@ladywholounges: Celebrating my birthday with Sally my 92-year-old mom, and reminiscing about the good old days of growing up Gen X… when parenting was basically “Here’s $5. Don’t get kidnapped. I’ll pick you up later.” 😂 Dropped off at the mall or amusement park with ZERO parental supervision. Kicked outside all summer and told not to come home until supper. Thirsty? Drink from the scorching-hot garden hose. Want to watch TV? WE were the remote control. “Get up and change the channel!” 🤣 And somehow, we survived to tell the tale. Happy birthday to me! I’m an elder millennial and grew up the same way mostly. I was a latch key kid with a single mom and spent summers with my Silent Generation grandparents. Didn’t have a TV till I was 10, and it was black and white with rabbit ears. Still had a rotary phone into the new millennium.
