@athomewitherica.boston: Imagine living in a house where you could look out your window and witness the start of the American Revolution. 🇺🇸 Built in 1770, the Old Manse in Concord, MA sits overlooking the Old North Bridge, site of the famous “shot heard ’round the world.” I finally had the chance to tour this incredible historic home, and what impressed me most was how much of its history has been preserved. From the woodwork and fireplaces to the wallpaper, furnishings, and little architectural details, it’s fascinating to see how people lived centuries ago. The house has connections to Ralph Waldo Emerson and Nathaniel Hawthorne, but its history also includes stories that deserve more attention. Four enslaved people are documented as having lived and worked here: Cate, Phyllis, her daughter Phyllis, and Frank. One of my favorite things about exploring New England is discovering how much history is hiding in plain sight. And as someone who loves old houses, getting to walk through rooms that have witnessed more than 250 years of history is pretty special. 📍 The Old Manse | Concord, Massachusetts Save this for your next afternoon exploring Concord! #ConcordMA #MassachusettsHistory #HistoricHomes #NewEnglandHistory #ExploreMassachusetts
