@imissyoumemorial: Day of the Dead is two days, and the first one is for the children. November 1, Todos los Santos, is kept for the angelitos, the little ones who died. Their altars carry milk, sweet bread, candy, small toys and whatever they loved to eat. The candles are small. November 2, Fieles Difuntos, is for the adults. Only then do the mezcal, the cigarettes and the mole come out. This split is older than most people think. In 1579 a Spanish friar named Diego Durán wrote down what he saw: Indigenous families leaving cacao, fruit, wax and money for their dead children on All Saints' Day and for the adults on All Souls'. The dates have not moved since. A child's altar is the quietest one in the house. It is also the one nobody forgets to build. I Miss You Memorial is a whole page for every life, however short: their photos, videos and stories, from everyone who loved them, in one place. Free to start.
