@_lupem: i do all my prep correctly ( i think) ive watched tons of videos of prep and builder gel application, and I follow every step, but this keeps happening, there's no chip or anything just the separation 😭 help pleaseeee
they aren't prepping your nail beds correctly so the product is separating from your natural nails 😭

Licensed cosmetologist here! 💕 This looks like it could be a product adhesion or application issue. It could also be related to the natural nail or everyday wear. I’d have your nail tech take a closer look to figure out what’s causing it!

You would benefit from a rubber base coat.

Hey! Comments are right of course but overall because it’s your natural nail no matter what you do eventually the oils that your nail plate naturally excretes will cause separation at the tip

Make sure your buffing the nail correctly. I use acetone as a dehydrator, no primer

Your nails are too fragile and flexible, either you’re not doing the right prep or you’re using a gel that is not hard enough to stay in your nails, so whenever your nail moves underneath it starts separating, I don’t know if it makes sense to you. I recommend to use a hard gel or polygel on your nail tip and then you can do builder on top to make your nail even.

It can be different reasons need better prep, the base your using, not capping the free edge. Maybe do a video on how you do them and maybe we can help better.

Are you using base coat first??? I had this problem… i was doing it wrong lol. Base coat, cure everything twice under the light, then builder gel, cure, color, cure, top coat cure.

if your nail bends that easy your nails are not thong enough to hold structure for the gel to stay on. the gel bends with your nail and it lifts in the process so it doesnt hurt/break like acrylic. this can be from many things like over filing or genetics. sometimes things work for some and not for others. id suggest focusing on growing healthy nails, less filing on the natural nails when prep (keep a thin layer of non lifted product rather than removing it all and filing again)

Because the nails underneath are way too long. You need to let them hit it up with the drill or redo your entire full set.

prep is not done right. And if gel is on natural nail it should be filed underneath so the gel can catch onto the nail. If nail tech did this, switch. If you did this, fix your prep match sure you dehydrated all the way and when your done file a little underneath to prevent lifting.

the nail needs to be as moisture free as possible! some people benefit from primer, some don’t. ensure there is a decent grit to your file/buffer especially focus on the free edge. a decent grit gives more groves and areas for the polish to grab onto (like slipping and scoring clay!) try capping your free edges prior to curing your polish, it is kind of like an extra grip around the area you’re having separation.

This happens anytime I use builder gel. Someone suggested I switch to rubber base, and it worked a little bit better, but I just completely switched over to polygel and have no issues for the last couple years
