Tintin was absolute perfection! I’ve been hoping for a sequel for 15 years now!

I feel like Bad Traveling is the best version of this niche, going for photorealism even when well done is still jarring to look at. It needs to be stylized in some way. I also think they should reserve it for stories that might be hard to tell in live action or using traditional animation.

When you look at how the tech has developed, with films like Avatar, it makes you appreciate how, especially in terms of the tech of production & VFX, these films were, whatever their narrative /constructive faults “ahead of their time” in so many other ways.

Monster House and Tin-Tin are fantastic. Mars Needs Moms is diabolical

haaaated those early 00s zemeckis movies, gave me nausea in the theatres (which was more to do with the 3D nonsense they put in it which was also rampant in early 00s 3D movies)

I have a soft spot for those movies because of the liberating tech. You can really see say Spielberg’s blocking and shot ideas that would’ve been impossible. Plus they can do that Avatar thing now where they shoot a scene without cinematography then design the cinematography around what the filmed scene calls for
