@vegasunboxed: Filipinos are known for hospitality and respect, but some everyday Filipino habits can be considered rude in Western countries. From commenting on someone’s weight to asking personal questions, showing up unannounced, and Filipino time, cultural differences can create misunderstandings. Living abroad doesn’t mean abandoning Filipino culture. But understanding cultural etiquette and respecting other people’s boundaries matters too. Which Filipino habits do you think we need to rethink when living abroad? And if you’re a foreigner with Filipino friends, family, or a partner, what cultural differences surprised you? #FilipinoCulture #FilipinosAbroad #CulturalDifferences #FilipinoMindset #VegasUnboxed

It's also rude in the Philippines. We're just too cowardly to push back on it

I would imagine that it is rude in the Philippines also but it’s overlooked and accepted as normal. It would be nice if we all be mindful of other people’s feelings.

When people who comment on my weight I just stare at them blankly and it makes them uncomfortable. most of them stopped making their comments towards me and some now avoid me! 😂 can you Imagine? They were the jerk and now I look like the bad guy! Jeez!

Like Latino families, we’ll give you a nickname like “fatty” or “skinny” it’s a term of endearment.

Yes. my husband is Filipino. Our daughter doesn't want anything to do with her grandmother because she always criticizes her looks, clothes, etc. Makes fun of her & she favors our oldest child over the other 2.

Cutting in line omg that is so incredibly disrespectful! However stopping by someone’s house unannounced in the US depends on what part of the US you live in. In most big cities yes you are correct in more rural areas particularly in the southern states or Texas is pretty normal (you just never enter the house if their spouse is not there if your a man and their husband is not there you never enter the house without him present if your a woman and their husband wife is not home you never enter the house if only the husband is home yes we have marites too! )
