the problem with this was we see in iron man 1 tony made jarvis as a kid and then kept upgrading him which is why he's Tony's personal AI so they retconned that and it feels like a weird choice cause it didn't have to be Jarvis it could have just been another AI

I’m seeing people were under the impression that Tony alone made Jarvis and truth be told. I thought he did too, but this does make sense because Stark was a weapons manufacturer. He wasn’t really working in AI maybe eventually he would have but he probably saw Jo Casta work and use that as the foundation to finish or make Jarvis.

It bothers me that the ethical implications of this are literally not acknowledged at all. Like, it was one thing when Jarvis was just a science fiction AI companion that was used as the foundation for an actual, sentient being, but implying that literally all of these AIs that we've ever seen have been conscious the whole time is crazy. They were literally using sentient digital slaves. Did no one writing this think about that?
