@nzherald: Labour leader Chris Hipkins talks about a new housing policy, and also insists there are no more candidate problems set to come out before the election. Video / Ryan Bridge TODAY
as builder whos worked both new an retro fit schemes under both govts. labour great idea first govt in forever to finally do something in reguards to state housing. but they dropped ball on approach an wasted 100s of millions if not billions into their approach. 1 out of 8 retro fits were truely worth saving. majorty of stocks have hit used by date. an we should of not been buying land to develop but devolping on what was existing. doubling an even tripling housing stocks while displacing singluar tenant per build an then returning 1 2 or even 3 new ones. overall reducing costs. an these projects should have never been middle maned k.o an main contrators should have never needed anyone in between. labour faked employment rates an drove costs up by doing this. if labour had of understood building industry an been wise we would have never had new govt come in an cut back. they made k.o run in a defict. an they will yet again run it into huge deficts because labour an construction just dont go hand in hand.

I don't think that's fair! HNZ is a hand up not hand out... The housing list is HUGE! The rent is already heavily reduced. What about the rest of us who want to stay in the communities we are living in? Where's our incentives and easy access for home purchase?

5% deposit is low which means the monthly mortgage will be high. nearly 4000 a month and used up your kiwi saver for the 5% hope your ready because if you thought 600 or 700 a week was a struggle.

So again with ko homes are they going to meet tenancy laws? or would they be offered houses as is?..Not insulated, black mold, Foundation not stable? if so wouldn't that also leave them screwed?
