Here’s a perspective that might challenge everything you’ve been telling yourself about your last relationship. You may have been betrayed. Lied to. Neglected. You may have given everything you knew how to give and still watched someone walk away. And maybe they genuinely did you wrong. But what if you’ve become so focused on proving what they did to you that you’ve stopped asking what the relationship revealed about you? Not what they made you do. Not what they deserved. Not what you did because you were hurt. What did you bring into that relationship that you would never want to experience from someone else? Did you punish them with silence instead of communicating? Did you expect them to understand needs you never clearly expressed? Did you use your past as a reason to distrust someone who was trying to love you? Did you demand patience for your wounds while having very little patience for theirs? Did you want them to take accountability, but struggle to do it yourself without explaining why your behavior was justified? Sit with that. Because it’s possible to tell the truth about how someone hurt you while finally telling the truth about yourself. And this is where people get stuck: they believe acknowledging their mistakes somehow makes the other person’s behavior acceptable. It doesn’t. Two people can cause each other pain without being equally responsible for it. And taking ownership of your part does not mean taking responsibility for theirs. You don’t have to rewrite your story to make yourself the villain. You just have to stop editing yourself out of the parts that need to change. Ask yourself one question: If I entered my next relationship with the exact same habits, reactions, defenses, and communication patterns I had in my last one, what would I be expecting a new person to endure? That question matters because a new relationship cannot give you a new outcome if you keep bringing the same unexamined patterns into it. You can change partners, cities, circumstances, and even your entire life. But if you never confront yourself, you may keep meeting the same problems in different forms. The goal isn’t to prove you were the good person in someone else’s story. The goal is to become someone who can look honestly at their own story without needing to be innocent to be worthy of healing. That’s real growth. Not self-hatred. Not taking all the blame. Not pretending you weren’t hurt. Just the courage to stop using someone else’s mistakes as a reason to ignore your own. If you’re ready to start your healing journey, click the link in my bio. I have free resources available to help you begin doing the deeper work within yourself. And if you need more personalized support, I also offer one-on-one calls as a certified life, health, and relationship coach. This page is dedicated to helping people navigate heartbreak, attachment wounds, emotional pain, self-awareness, and deep reflection through brutal honesty, psychology, faith, and inward healing. Follow me for a deeper look within yourself where hard truths meet self-awareness, healing replaces self-abandonment, and understanding yourself becomes the key to unlocking the life God intended for you. #healing #mirror #SelfImprovement #chriscarrillo #Love
