But it doesn't anymore. That's why ostracization is such a powerful form of coercive control. When you're excluded, many people immediately begin asking:

Ostracization is a way of pressuring someone to return to the role that kept the family functioning the way it always had. And being excluded isn't evidence that you were the problem.
