I was making $80k in 2022, before the rent explosion and everything. I was living like a king with $865 2b 2br townhouse and saving thousands upon thousands of dollars. Now? I'm damn near paycheck to paycheck.

In 2019 my boyfriend at the time and I shared a 2 bedroom apartment with a garage. We were both in college, I paid bills with my internship I worked at like 20 hours a week and he had scholarships and savings from his parents. The rent was like $750. Gas was $1.85.

I make 120k a year. I fought for years to get where I am salary wise and I feel like I’m making 50k again… I also live in CT where everything is hyper inflated

I didn’t know anyone making $80k back then. That’s what’s crazy about these comparisons. Using an unknown wage in relation to costs at a given time

made 70k starting the year 2023. I felt invincible that first year and its been all down hill since. now I'm living paycheck to paycheck and I feel like I'm barely keeping afloat now.

I bought my house in 2007. It would suck to pay a payment on what it’s currently valued at. My earnings have not increased at the rate everything else has.

I moved out of my parents house in 2016, got a job making 7.25/hr at a zaxbys and I was able to pay money towards rent and I could get a full cart of groceries 🥲 when minimum wage was recently forced to increase, I was working at Walmart making a few thousand a month (before taxes) just working part time, at $16/hr

I was making like 60k in 2018, I was doing fine. Saving money, went on vacation. I make 130k now, we bought a house and that's what I can afford lol. I genuinely do not know which I prefer.
