@the.american.kitchen: Emmy-Winning Television Icon Passes Away at 80 After Leaving Behind a Powerful Legacy of Resilience Susan Saint James, the Emmy-winning star of classic television shows like "McMillan & Wife" and "Kate & Allie," has d*ed at the age of 80. Her representative confirmed she passed away on Monday from pancreatic cancer. For decades, she was a beloved presence on screen. She won a Primetime Emmy for her very first major television role in "The Name of the Game" and earned three more nominations starring opposite Rock Hudson. After her hit sitcom "Kate & Allie" wrapped in 1989, she largely retired from the spotlight. But her family says her defining moment did not happen on camera. In 2004, her husband, television producer Dick Ebersol, and two of her sons were involved in a devastating private plane cr*sh in Colorado. Her husband and one son survived, but her 14-year-old son, Teddy, tragically d*ed. Even in the deepest grief of her life, she put her loved ones first. According to a heartbreaking statement from her family, she delivered her young son's eulogy as a personal note to her surviving children and husband, giving them the words they needed to heal. Today, she is being remembered not just as a trailblazing actress with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but as a deeply kind woman who brought warmth to everyone she met.
