@fjkao865: Caption (below the video): “You don’t inherit DNA after 7 generations” isn’t a law of genetics, it’s just a shortcut. DNA gets reshuffled every generation, and while some ancestral lines drop out, other fragments survive way longer than anyone expects. That’s why I can still match to people who lived 1,000–4,000 years ago. It’s not clean, it’s not predictable. It’s messy, random, and powerful. #DNA #Genetics #Genealogy #AncientDNA #FamilyHistory

I really don't know how you can explain all the lab when the Iceman who was well over 5,000 years old they were able to extract DNA and lo and behold they actually could come down to present day relatives from that DNA from a 5000 plus year old Iceman. your math isn't nothing

How does having the same ancestors on both sides of your tree impact DNA? My 6x grandparents are the same on both sides. There’s also some marriages between the trees. Am PA German and when they first got here the population was small and it happened.

I bet I got a lot of snips from my noble ancestry in Provence due to endogamy. You're basically talking about four major families and all their many cadet branches.

I always wanted to study genetics back in 1975 when I graduated from HS and rode my Schwinn 10-speed … but girls were told we could study anything, it was a lie.
