@thisismoney: ANDY BURNHAM ANNOUNCES PAID PATERNITY LEAVE FOR SELF EMPLOYED DADS FOR THE FIRST TIME. The Prime Minister has announced plans to extend parental pay to more than 150,000 additional parents each year, including self employed fathers and partners who were previously ineligible. Eligible parents will be able to receive up to £194 a week for two weeks, providing financial support to fathers who would otherwise lose income by taking time off to care for their newborn. The change aims to give more families financial support during the crucial first weeks of a child’s life. Previously, self employed fathers were generally excluded from statutory paternity pay, leaving many facing the choice between taking time off without income or returning to work soon after their baby’s birth. #ThisIsMoney #Money #News #UK

“Up to £194 a week for two weeks” £194 is a days wage for many self-employed men.

Before you complain. It gives dad’s the OPTION which they never had before. Of course if you go to work you’ll earn more. But if you wanted to stay at home for an extra few days, you at least got some parts of bills covered. You can make money back, you can’t experience an extra week with your new born again.

He’s doing everything right so far, apart from telling us we’ll save money on fuel by just telling us where the cheapest fuel is rather than reducing duty tax 😂

How about making maternity leave full pay for 12 weeks? I have a c section on Tuesday and only get 6 weeks at 90% pay and then have to return to work as I have bills to pay and can’t live off statutory pay.
