I’d give it back, tell her how helpful it was, then never accept another gift from her. It’s strange she is asking for it back but I wouldn’t want this to become a potential catalyst for bad blood between neighbors. Now you know how to respond to future “gifts”. Move on and be the bigger person. You will be better off in the long run.

I had a girl GIVE me a barrel saddle that was trashed. I put hours of work into it, and replaced pieces of it that were dry and had broken. Two years later she asked for it back. I was like, ummm no. lol.

I was raised that once you give something away, you never ask for it back! It’s the principle and I’m sorry you had to deal with that. I was also told to avoid accepting free gifts from non family due to situations like this😅 guess I haven’t learned myself since I will still accept whatever people give me🤷🏽♀️

omgg my bf’s sister gave me a momcozy carrier then asked for it back right after bc his other sister said it was expensive mind you she said it was too small on her 💀 i don’t take anything from them anymore, they all seem to have a problem with me without even knowing me lmao everything comes with bad energy, i’d rather throw it away or give it back or sell it haha

I was gifted a baby swing. the motor died on it almost immediately after it was given to us. I threw it out. a year later she asked for it back "so we can bless another mommy with it". she was livid when I told her it had broken a year ago and I didnt have it anymore. Said I should have given it back to her as soon as it had happened. she accused me of pawning it off and stealing her money. mind you, it was already a beat up 6yo swing she she gifted it.

OMG, people are so weird. 😭 I got into a car accident when my son was about 11 months old, and my insurance had to replace his car seat. It was a Nuna infant car seat, so definitely not cheap. They sent me a brand-new one, but since he was about to outgrow it anyway, I decided to buy him a convertible car seat instead. I ended up giving the brand-new Nuna to someone I knew who was expecting, completely free. Well, three months later, I found out I was pregnant again. 😂 Was I a little upset that I had just given away a perfectly good, expensive car seat? Absolutely! But NEVER ONCE did it cross my mind to ask for it back. Once you give someone something, it’s theirs. You don’t get to come back a year later asking for it just because your circumstances changed. That’s crazy to me. 😭

i gifted a doona stroller to my husband’s cousin bec my toddler outgrew it. then i found out i was pregnant again. i didn’t ask for it back though i needed it again. a gift is a gift. plus, she uses it a lot and im happy to see it put into good use. 😁
