Ms Dolly P has never been afraid to look and live exactly how she pleases; whether you like it or not, she does not care. She has walked with confidence in her aesthetic and it was beautiful to witness from afar. She loves her long nails, it’s a part of her music, her charm and her profound beauty. I, too have been someone that has always had an affinity for long beautiful nails. My social worker, when I was a young girl always wore her nails long with beautiful art work and I was obsessed them. Counting down the days till I saw her again, so I could see what design she was sporting that day. She was the one who exposed me to Dolly Parton and her nails and I was even more amazed. So now as an adult, I chose to wore my nails long: it’s currently in the “Soft Stiletto/Almondetto” shape. As a result of how I chose to wear my nails, I have been judged, looked at as ghetto. In fact, you can find a plethora of videos here on TikTok about how “unchic” long nails are because it does fit the classy/clean girl aesthetic. But Dolly is as classy as they come because of her character, her personality and the life she lived. Her nails are very much a part of that and it has given me the confidence to not change myself to fit a mould. I’m a black British girl who works a very corporate job, wearing long nails does allow judgement but I have been adamant in not changing that aspect of myself! My work speaks for itself and it speaks very highly of me and my capabilities. And when the inevitable critique of my nails comes, Dolly Parton has been my favourite clap back! E.g. “Don’t you think it’s a little childish or tacky to still wear your nails that long?” “No I don’t, do you think Dolly is childish and tacky for the way she wear hers?” So in honour of the Queen, Ms Dolly P, please see the slide show of some of my fave nails of hers. Also share some of your own favourite nails in the comments below, both long and short! #DollyParton #dolly #Nails #RIP #Fashion
