girl you should follow more quilters because it is absolutely NOT about perfection. I live by the 20/20 rule in quilting: if you can't see the mistakes from 20 feet away, galloping 20 mph on a horse, then it's perfect. You're doing amazing!! And as long as those geese turn out right after trimming, they're perfect too!

I’m exactly the same way. Drafting my own clothing patterns is fine, but quilts stress me out because you can see every imperfection. I know other people won’t notice or care but I DO. I joined a quilt group and made one quilt and it’s damn near perfect, but it took me 3x as long as anyone else (including total beginner sewists) because I kept redoing things. I don’t think I’ll ever make another quilt, it’s just not fun for me.

My granny made HUNDREDS of quilts. I grew up quilting with her. She was NOT a perfectionist, she literally never even ironed the seams 😆 it doesn’t need to be perfect. It’ll work out. And if it doesn’t work out, there’s always a way to improvise 🤩

I started quilting in 2025 and I absolutely love it but it can be overwhelming. I highly recommend watching Fat Quarter Shop, Just get it done Quilts, Missouri star, and Jordan fabrics on youtube. FQS is my favorite place to buy fabric. also there are lots of tutorials on how to do multiple flying geese and half square triangles at a time. don't feel dumb, just enjoy the ride. watch some videos on proper ironing techniques too to help you get better matching points and also look into nesting your seams! you don't need to be perfect, no quilt had to be! just have fun 💜

it's kind of refreshing to see im not the only one who does something over and over because of it not looking right or being perfect 😂 kudos to you for sticking to it, my ADHD would just leave the piles for a few months then get back to it

However much starch you are using isn’t enough- if you want crispy and clean corners, you needs your fabric starched to highhhh heaven. It should feel like construction paper. I prefer Niagara brand starch!!!
