@holvek: Four-dimensional space (4D) is a mathematical model in which four coordinates are required to specify a point's position instead of the usual three. Our brains, adapted to the physical world, cannot visually conceptualize a fourth spatial dimension. In geometry, it is understood as a hypothetical spatial axis that lies strictly perpendicular to length, width, and height all at the same time. In physics, thanks to Einstein's theory of relativity, the fourth dimension is most commonly defined as time. Space and time are merged into a single four-dimensional continuum, where any event is described not only by its location but also by the exact moment it occurs. However, in pure mathematics, 4D is treated strictly as a geometric direction that expands beyond our physical limits. The ultimate symbol of four-dimensional geometry is the tesseract (hypercube), which is made up of 8 interconnected three-dimensional cubes. The mesmerizing, self-turning shapes we see on screens are not the actual hypercube, but merely a three-dimensional projection — or "shadow" — that a real 4D object would cast into our 3D world. #4d #interstellar #astrophysics #education
