No, but we do teach more than our subjects. School is an application of the social and cultural lessons they are taught at home and in society. Think about their social development as just another “teach,check, practise”. School is one big practise phase, and we have to address the misconceptions. Now add to that disadvantaged, SEND and safeguarding situations and you get a very complex culture. So no it is not our job to parent children, but we do have an additional responsibility for their development, and if you disagree you should probably focus on teaching further education
