NEWS BOX GY- Police Corporal Anthony Cheddi Singh. It’s been one month since Police Corporal Anthony Cheddi Singh was struck down by an alleged drunk driver while on duty at the Buxton Public Road, East Coast Demerara. Since then, he has never regained consciousness from the injuries he sustained. He is currently admitted in a critical condition at the Lima Hospital. The accident occurred on September 28. The rank, who is stationed at the Vigilance Police Station, reportedly sustained severe brain injuries and multiple internal fractures, including injuries to his ribs, pelvis, shoulder and arms. Singh family is desperately hoping for his recovery while calling for justice. During an interview with the News Room, his mother Sarita Singh, recalled receiving the devastating news while at home. “We was at home when we get a phone call saying that he was involved in an accident where a drunken driver hit him,” she said. However, it was only later that the family realised the severity of the incident. “We didn’t know it was such a serious accident until later we heard it was critical,” the grieving mother explained. According to Sarita, her son has remained unconscious since the accident, with no improvement in his condition. “Up to now he is unconscious…since the accident he never recover up to now,” she said. The prolonged uncertainty has taken a heavy emotional toll on the family. While they cling to hope for his recovery, his mother is also demanding answers about the handling of the case, expressing frustration over what she believes has been a lack of progress. “I would like justice to be done because to be I ain’t seeing nothing being done by the Guyana Police Force…right now its very sad,” Sarita said. Traffic Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mahendra Singh, told the News Room in an invited comment that the matter remains under “active” investigation. Singh confirmed that the driver had been arrested and subsequently placed on station bail. The driver is required to report to the police every Friday. Singh said he has also met with the family on multiple occasion. He also explained that investigators have been unable to obtain a statement from Corporal Singh because of his medical condition. “Apparently the man is just free and my son is just there we just hoping…we just praying if he could just regain consciousness but i don’t know,” the rank mother told the reporter. #viralllllll #viralvideo #grow #blowup #guyana🇬🇾🇬🇾
