@silenthours888: there was a point where i had to remind him about everything. our anniversary, my birthday, to ask about my doctor's appointment, to say goodnight. every time i asked, he'd do it, but it felt hollow, like reading lines from a script i'd written for him. i'd get the flowers and feel nothing, because i knew they only showed up because i'd brought them up three times. it slowly made me feel needy and unlovable, like i was dragging affection out of him. eventually i stopped asking for anything, just to see. weeks went by with nothing. that silence told me the truth. now i'm with someone who surprises me with my favorite pastry on random tuesdays and texts me good luck before meetings without being reminded. i didn't know how much i'd been missing until i stopped having to ask.
