In 2020 I attended a workshop through work where Steve Scanlon, the author of Still the Lizard introduced me to the concept of the lizard brain. I took a bunch of notes. Bought and read his book, And then I never applied a single thing. I consumed the information and moved on. Fast forward to 2021. I hit rock bottom. And that’s when I started connecting the dots learning about nervous system regulation, somatic work, and what it actually means to help your body feel safe. I started decluttering my life little by little. And then something unexpected happened. It created a ripple effect. ☀️☀️ I started saving money. Setting better habits. I decluttered over 50% of my belongings. I started better eating habits. I felt more intentional, more present, more like myself. Everything started to shift. I finally felt regulated enough to actually change. Then 2025 hit. Construction delays, a new baby, survival mode all over again. And I am so grateful for my body for keeping me and my family safe through all of it. It did exactly what it was designed to do. But now it is time to come back to myself. I am seven months postpartum and I am still honoring that season. This is not about bouncing back or doing it all perfectly. This is about doing it again, but this time with more intention, more grace, and less pressure. That’s what the Soft Mom Glow Up is really about. Not just the outside. The whole thing. 🤍 #SelfImprovement #momof4 #simplehabits #postpartumjourney Setting systems New habits as a mom
