The veil was lifted for a few moments and she stepped through. Just enough for the conversation, but not enough to actually pass over. I’ve had patients who were critical do the same.

when I gave birth to my twins, I “passed out” between pushing them, but I saw my grandpa who passed away the day before. I could still hear the nurses talking, but I also heard my grandpa tell me he was so proud and wanted to be the first to meet them.

My mother was in rehab after a fall. She was two states away from me so I went to work planning to leave after my shift. I was hanging an IV the patients husband came in and said “I’m so sorry to hear your mother passed” I didn’t know what to say so I left the room to call the facility to find my mother coded and didn’t make it. I went back to the room to ask him how him how he knew. I asked the patient where her husband. “You mean where’s he’s buried? Asmall town in PA” the same town where my mother passed found out they were high school sweethearts but parted after graduation

My dad had an allergic reaction during supper with my mom. He ended up going non responsive and passed out on my mom. 911 was called and he went to the hospital. On the way he coded and they brought him back. Once awake the next day my dad was right pissed at my mom for bringing him back. His sister carol who died at 5 was playing under a willow tree and she wanted him to stay, promised there would be no pain, and he would be with her. He was so pissed my mom had them bring him back because it was so calm and peaceful. That’s when I was a kid. Carol has visited my patients while I was pregnant, with my now daughter named Carolyn after my dad’s sister. I say she’s our family guardian

One time I was working a night shift at an assisted living. I had an actively dying patient that I was going in giving meds too. When I was in there I was talking to the patient like I would if they were coherent. As soon as I stopped talking there was this loud laugh behind me. I ran out of the room and no one was awake. Later that night I was in the living room area and heard a slam. I looked over and all the kitchen cabinets were open. I shut them and 5 minutes later they were all open again.. I left them that way and never worked a night shift there again 😭
