@rayanani3: A story on karma. View from the Certosa di San Giacomo, a 14th-century Carthusian monastery on Capri. During the 1656 plague the monks sealed themselves inside. The locals, who’ve been fighting with the monks over land and hunting rights, are said to have thrown plague corpses over the walls. A century and a half later, in 1808, Joachim Murat’s troops took the island, seized the monastery’s assets, and banished the monks from Capri. The governor then split communal land among the locals and put money into farms, schools, and roads.
