Yes!!!!! I am Mexican and love to see people embrace our food, traditions, and like the colorful fabrics. It is definitely white Americans and even Americanized Mexicans who obsess over “cultural appropriation”. I’m not sure about other cultures but it’s bizarre to have people attack me when I say it’s okay for white Americans to make their own ofrendas (alters) for Day of the Dead

Kinda reminds me of the Blue Avatar movie. How the main character was a human but eventually gets accepted into the Navi culture after saving their people…there’s some beauty behind it…but I think the concept is more about being able to hold true reverence…on both sides—

Very few other countries are as diverse as the United States and none are as large and diverse. But also yes it’s a division tactic pushed by the powers that be. And ALSO it’s an attempt by people of color to raise awareness in ignorant white people about the ways they harm people. It’s a nuanced issue.
