Last week, Thailand cancelled her visa. Now she’s in custody, waiting to be deported. Enav Ashual, a 33-year-old Israeli woman, arrived in Thailand on 26 September on a tourist visa. Within weeks, complaints began piling up on Koh Phangan. On 18 October, at a waterfall in Than Sadet National Park, she allegedly insulted and threatened park staff and refused to pay the entrance fee. On 21 October, she was involved in an incident at a hotel on the island. According to reports, she claimed to own the property and ordered guests to leave their rooms. Unpaid hotel bills were also reported. Local media also say she had been offering breathwork and art therapy sessions, with no confirmed work permit. On 22 October, Koh Phangan’s foreigner screening committee, made up of district officials, tourist police and community representatives, voted unanimously that her conduct breached the terms of her stay. Immigration Division 6 approved the cancellation of her visa. She is now being held in Surat Thani while immigration police arrange her flight back to Israel. Authorities have also proposed adding her to Thailand’s immigration blacklist, which could ban her from ever returning. She is the tenth foreigner to lose the right to stay on Koh Phangan since January, and the third Israeli. Immigration police say checks on foreigners will be stepped up on Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. She has not publicly responded to the allegations. Should Thailand be this strict with tourists who break the rules? Source Thailand Girls
