@abcnews: At least 64 people were killed after two trains collided on Spain’s Madrid-Seville high-speed line, and the death toll is expected to rise, a spokesperson for the Castilla-La Mancha region told ABC News. Read more at the link in bio.

64 dead. How did this happen?

Ruvy_the_Groove_Meister :

It doesn't make sense! The Madrid-Seville high speed line is equipped with advanced Automatic Train Protection and European Rail Traffic Management System protocols designed specifically to make a rear end collision impossible. 🤔

Bexx :

There was an error on the security system of the railroad that caused the stop of 8 trains. Since the system was down the central took control manually and gave instructions to the trains to start again, but the Iryio train didn't start (unknown reasons for now). There was a red light but a person from the central stated to the AVE train to go on, and then was the crash. The AVE collided with the Iryo from behind, they were on the same rail. That's all we know for now in Spain.
