To live is to accept one of the universes hardest truths; humans are not blessed with a meaning nor purpose in life. Camus called this the absurd. The terrifying conflict between humans desire for meaning in an silent, indifferent, irrational universe. However, I think our lack of meaning is what makes us humans so free. There is no foundation, no expectations, no deity assessing our every action. Only ourselves. Meaning is whatever you want it to be. Whether that’s happiness like the eudaemonists believed or virtue like the Stoics. Discovering yourself is the only true way to discover purpose in this vast abyss. The absurd is scary at first but once you accept it, you can finally begin that journey towards living a fulfilling life. #yap #philosophy #camus #absurdism #quotes
