@historylivesofbritroyals: Charlotte was born on this day in 1746 as the 6th child 4th daughter of Lord Henry Beauclerk and his wife Martha Lovelace. She was baptized in mid-November 1746 at St. Mary Le Strand in London. Charlotte was born just 14 months after her brother Henry and 14 months before her sister Martha. She was a descendant of King Charles II as her paternal grandfather was Charles II's illegitimate son with mistress Nell Gwyn. Her father died in 1761 and her mother petitioned for and was granted a royal pension of £400 per year to help support and raise Charlotte and her remaining siblings. She is believed to have been educated by governesses in English and French as well as fine needlework, religious instruction, and the management of a household. Charlotte does not appear to have ever married nor had any children. Her exact death date has been lost to history, but it is thought to have been sometime around 1820. Her exact burial site is unknown, but it is believed she is likely buried alongside her mother in the parish churchyard at Stanmore.
