As a youth coach I can confirm parents are the worst part of coaching. If you want to cheer politely that’s great. But parents being disruptive, disrespectful toward the other team, or trying to coach or give tips to players from the bleachers is so exhausting. If you want to be an umpire then sign up, if you want to coach then sign up, if you want to be disruptive or disrespectful then leave. Sit your ass in those bleachers and cheer politely or don’t come at all. Period. Bad parents are the reason that leagues are having issues finding coaches and umps/referees.

Coached girl’s softball for 20 years from 10U to 18 Gold. Parents are the worst part. Loved having the local SWAT team captain as one of my parents. I hope the parent who hit the man with the steel cup spends a long time in prison.
