@palidev21: GitHub is useful even if you never write code. These five free, open-source desktop projects help with video editing, disk space, unwanted programs, passwords and databases. Here is what each one actually does and when you would use it. 🎬 Shotcut — edit your next video Arrange clips on a multitrack timeline, add text or subtitles, adjust color and apply audio filters. You can set a portrait resolution for vertical videos as well as edit landscape footage. Useful for tutorials, gameplay clips and social posts when you want a desktop editor. Available for Windows, macOS and Linux; export speed depends on your computer and settings. Download: shotcut.org GitHub: github.com/mltframework/shotcut 📊 WinDirStat — find the storage hogs Its treemap turns files into rectangles: the larger the block, the more space the file uses. Check the largest files, browse folders and compare file types instead of guessing what filled your drive. Great for finding old recordings and downloads you forgot about. Windows only. Inspect an item before deleting it; a large file is not automatically unnecessary. Download: windirstat.net GitHub: github.com/windirstat/windirstat 🧹 BCUninstaller — clear the programs you no longer use Select several apps and queue their uninstallers together. It detects multiple application types, including Windows Store apps and Steam games, and can help identify leftovers afterward. Useful when tidying a Windows PC. Review the app list and leftover suggestions before confirming; some uninstallers still need your input. Download: bcuninstaller.com GitHub: github.com/BCUninstaller/Bulk-Crap-Uninstaller 🔐 KeePassXC — a password vault you manage Keep logins in a local encrypted KDBX database, generate unique passwords and organize entries into groups. The companion browser extension connects the vault to supported browsers. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. Use a strong master password and keep backups: this is a local database, and cross-device file syncing is something you arrange yourself. Download: keepassxc.org GitHub: github.com/keepassxreboot/keepassxc 🗃️ DB Browser for SQLite — make database files easier to understand Open a SQLite database in a table-based interface, search records, import or export CSV, and run SQL queries. Handy for learning SQL, inspecting an app database or working with a small dataset. Available for Windows, macOS and Linux. It is specifically for SQLite, and you should work on a backup before changing important data. Download: sqlitebrowser.org GitHub: github.com/sqlitebrowser/sqlitebrowser Use the official download pages above or the repositories' linked releases. You do not need to compile the source code to use these tools. The slides use official project logos and developer screenshots. Which one would you install first? Save this list for your next PC setup and follow for more useful GitHub finds. #GitHubProjects #OpenSource #FreeSoftware #PCTips #UsefulTools
