@news.studio2: Carrie Ann Inaba And Val Chmerkovskiy Hug And Talk At Dancing With The Stars After One-Episode Suspension Carrie Ann Inaba and Val Chmerkovskiy appeared to clear the air on Tuesday, Oct. 27. In a video obtained by PEOPLE, the judge, 58, and the pro dancer, 40, are seen chatting and hugging in the ballroom after the show. At one point, Inaba says, “We are coworkers and we are completely cordial. We are good, okay?” The crowd around them cheered. It followed a controversy from the Oct. 13 episode. Inaba criticized a lift by Chmerkovskiy’s wife, Jenna Johnson, and her celebrity partner, Harry Shum Jr. Chmerkovskiy then posted a since-deleted TikTok comment. It read, “You almost saw the Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night.” It referenced Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars. Chmerkovskiy later apologized and called it a “poor decision.” He was suspended for one episode and missed “Dedication Night” on Oct. 20. On Oct. 25, Inaba said in Instagram comments that she and Johnson had “hugged it out” after the Oct. 13 show. She also wrote that it came to her attention later that Johnson was deeply hurt. After Tuesday’s conversation, Chmerkovskiy told PEOPLE it felt like “cathartic relief.” He said he wants Inaba to know he has “nothing but love” and respect for her. He was also reunited with his partner, Jenna Dewan. He apologized for the chaos, and she replied, “I forgive you.” Their Argentine tango earned 37 out of 40 points. Inaba called Dewan’s performance “perfection” despite a “little stumble.” Do you think the suspension was the right call? #dancingwiththestars #carrieanninaba #valchmerkovskiy #jennajohnson #DWTS
