She talked about her 2015 divorce from Blake Shelton, now 50. “I got divorced and that sucks for anyone, especially in the public eye,” she said. She called it “a really not fun time.” After the split, she moved back to Nashville full-time. She had left small-town life behind. She said she “dove headfirst into songwriting.” “I gathered up all of my friends and relationships from, you know, all of the previous years and just used it, used the misery,” she said. She said she wrote about 75 songs in about a year. She said she wrote many of them in the first four months after she moved back. The songs fed her sixth album, The Weight of These Wings. Lambert called that time “kind of magical.” She said it was “raw emotion,” not writing for a certain sound. “And it was worth it,” she said. “It was worth laying it out there.” The two were together for 10 years and married for four. In a joint statement, they said, “This is not the future we envisioned.” Lambert later married Brendan McLoughlin in 2019. Shelton married Gwen Stefani in 2021.
