It's the safety of knowing someone once chose them, forgave them, and stayed even when it was painful. They return not because they've fully changed, but because they miss the version of you who made them feel wanted without demanding accountability. Sometimes it's guilt. Sometimes it's loneliness. Sometimes it's ego—wanting to see if they still have access to your heart. Coming back becomes a way to ease their conscience or prove to themselves that they still matter. But coming back doesn't always mean growth. Real change shows up as consistency, accountability, and respect—not sudden messages, apologies without action, or promises made out of fear of being alone. If someone truly values you, they won't hurt you and then disappear—only to return when it's convenient. Love doesn't circle back to test boundaries. Love stays, heals, and protects.
