@_chris_k241: Let’s go somewhere uncomfortable. At first, your pain wasn’t your choice. You didn’t choose every betrayal, every abandonment, every disappointment, or every moment that changed how you saw yourself. But somewhere along the way, something can happen. You begin using what happened to explain everything that happens next. You don’t trust because you’ve been betrayed. You don’t try because you’ve been rejected. You don’t open up because vulnerability once hurt you. You don’t take the risk because failure feels unbearable. And every explanation makes sense. Until you realize that understanding why you’re stuck is not the same as doing something to move forward. Your wounds may explain your starting point. They do not have to dictate every destination. This isn’t about blaming yourself for struggling. Healing takes time, and some wounds require real support. You cannot shame yourself into becoming healthy. But you can reach a point where you have to stop asking only, “Why am I like this?” and start asking, “What am I willing to practice differently?” Because self-awareness can become another hiding place. You can learn every attachment style, identify every childhood wound, understand every defense mechanism, and explain every reaction—and still keep repeating the same behavior. Not because you’re incapable of change, but because understanding the pattern feels safer than facing the discomfort of changing it. So be honest with yourself. Are you using your past to understand yourself or to excuse what you refuse to confront? Are you waiting until you feel completely healed before you start living differently? Have you mistaken knowing why you struggle for actually doing the work that helps you change? You don’t need to have everything figured out today. You need to be willing to take one honest step, even when your old patterns are begging you to stay comfortable. The hardest truth about healing is that the explanation for your behavior may be outside your control, but what you practice next is where your responsibility begins. You didn’t deserve everything that happened to you. But you deserve a future that isn’t endlessly shaped by it. And that future requires more than understanding your pain. It requires learning how to live differently despite it. If you’re ready to start your healing journey, click the link in my bio. No, literally that’s actually a thing people who are used to living in chaos are the most comfortable in chaos.
