WASHINGTON, D.C., USA 🇺🇸 — Former Vice President Kamala Harris is advising Democrats not to make impeaching President Donald Trump their priority if they gain control of Congress in the November midterm elections. During an October 27 appearance on The Parnas Perspective podcast with MeidasTouch host Aaron Parnas, Harris said impeachment would not be the best use of the party’s time and resources. “I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea, just to be honest with you,” Harris said. She added that Democrats should focus on investigations and accountability instead. “Just because we have limited resources and I think the energy and the resources need to be put into accountability, need to be put into investigations. And that’s where the time should be spent.” Harris also pointed to her experience in the Senate during Trump’s previous impeachment trials, saying the votes needed to convict him are not there. Trump was impeached twice during his first term, but the Senate did not reach the two-thirds majority required to convict him. Harris said Democrats should be prepared to act on oversight and policy priorities if they win congressional majorities, rather than spending their limited resources on an impeachment effort unlikely to result in removal from office. The 2026 midterm elections are scheduled for November 3. The balance of power in Congress will determine how much room lawmakers have to pursue investigations, legislation and oversight of the administration.
