This is hilarious. The king decrees gold is set at a certain price .... and then that makes it so?? Ridiculous.

Obviously it wouldn’t be used to pay down the debt or even reduce the deficit, he’ll just steal more

The fact that it hasn’t been revalued in 50 years tells the real story!

The US government values an ounce of gold at $42.22 while the market value is $3,000! That's a massive difference. also, if they revalue it, then will probably be conservative and go to $1500 or something, not the full market value.

It would be a drop on the bucket when the debt is 40 TRILLION. What good would it really do?

So gold goes to $2600 an ounce and then over a period of time goes to $7700 per ounce. Then the party is over.

You: “will create exactly $773B ($0.773T)”. Also you: “will create billions, perhaps trillions”. Clearly will NOT create trillions. Actually will not even create one trillion. About 0.773 trillion yes. Any government can choose to sell gold reserves to reduce their debts. You have over $40T debt so congrats you can reduce yours by 0.773. Which will take less than 1 year to offset with your current spending deficit.

Annual deficit 2 T, Total deficit 40 T. 800 B accounting entry doesnt change much. Gold price is set by a market and US govt wont be able manipulate it much.

The US claims it has that much gold on hand. They don’t have anything near that. The USA was holding the reserves for Germany and Holland and were unable to return their gold on request because they didn’t have it.
