One of the wealthiest people I know in Sydney drives a Toyota corolla to get around. Yes there are a couple of much more impressive cars in the garage but they aren't for supermarket runs etc. This is quite common amongst quiet extreme wealth.

I drop my husband to a dealer in my Jeep and they immediately started criticizing my Jeep that it looked rough. Sir we are not here to replace my car.

I'm saving my money so I can retire as quick as possible so I probably wouldn't be at the dealership but you know I look like I dress from Walmart and I actually do

Yup. My mom, blonde and thin, wore jeans and a hoodie to go buy a gently used dually truck when ours died (we had horses, and I know those trucks are Not cheap). First two places were condescending and dismissive. One even wanted to talk to her husband! (He's legally blind since birth, he's not driving Shit.) The third place treated her decently and got the sale. This was the late 90s and people are Still counting other people's pockets based on appearances. Bad move.

In the end, the wealth doesn't matter except to leave for others to enjoy.

I worked in a casino, I was a slot attendant, and our highest player spent an average of $45k a month playing slots and table games. He always wore jeans, a t shirt and a black jacket. Super nice and friendly to everyone and you’d never know he was super rich. I don’t remember what he did for work, I never asked him but I know others did but I forgot what they said he did.

Uhm…..question……..what is the money for? After all the smart investing, sacrificing and saving the resulting wealth is for nothing???? After all that I wear flip flops and dirty clothes every day???? I believe money has one REAL purpose. Use it to live the life that makes you happy. If you want to live paycheck to paycheck and the things and live the life you want, then that works. Not matter what choice we make we must always be realistic about our financial situation. Live your life.

When I worked at a major broker dealer, we had a client that had hundreds of millions of dollars. He would come in wranglers, new balance shoes, and a dirty old Harley Davidson T-shirt.

This social media obsession with rich people hiding their wealth is so overblown. Most wealthy people don’t hide it. Those who say they do are just poor people who like to fantasize that wealthy people are just like them. It’s sad.

What if the time you spend scrolling could also be used to learn a skill that creates future opportunities? That's what I'm trying to do with e-commerce. I'm not expecting instant results, but building toward $10,500 in monthly revenue would be a good starting point.
