In 2013, the Obama administration backed the "Gang of Eight" bill, a major compromise that passed the Senate with a decisive 68–32 majority, but House Republican leadership refused to bring it to a vote. More recently, in early 2024, the Biden administration negotiated directly with conservative Republicans to craft the Border Act of 2024. This $20 billion enforcement package was endorsed by the Border Patrol Union and met almost every conservative demand, but Senate Republicans ultimately blocked their own bill after Donald Trump publicly urged them to kill it for campaign leverage.

Let's be crystal clear that Trump does not give a damn about the border or undocumented immigrants. He is using them as a wedge issue while he bankrupts this country for his own benefit. Biden tried to pass the largest bipartisan immigration reform Bill in United States history, and Trump told the GOP to kill it and they did. If that was the real issue, he would have applauded that. And here we are almost 11 years later, and Trump is still talking about the border. nothing else. release the Epstein files, and he needs to go to prison for a lot of crimes.
