I love point #4! When my roommates and I would throw house parties in college we would make sure that we were wasted when everyone showed up. Why? Because we wanted to set the tone!

My home is 800 ft.², and we host all of the time I love everybody being in our tiny house together and overflowing onto the porches. It’s so wonderful.

Speaking to overcrowded parties, I think of this quote: “And I like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties there isn’t any privacy"—comes from F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel The Great Gatsby, spoken by the character Jordan Baker

So true! Worst thing is when the host looks frustrated, I want to leave immediately.

I just read someone said, you as the host think about reading the room and anticipating the needs of your guests.. don’t think of them as guests it’s not a job.. and also you are the writer of the room not the reader.. they are reading you as the host! Be confident and comfortable, anticipate their needs but do not be a helicopter over every single thing! Leave room for questions and helpful tasks or ideas it doesn’t need to be strict and perfect that just makes it uncomfortable and unsettling

I threw a party for 40 ppl inc surfer friends, lawyer coworkers & family. I made everyone play limbo about an hr in, broke the ice and no one stopped dancing the rest of the night, dancing with no one at all! Best party ever!

I make my career in events and I can verify rule number one is critical… if you spread people out too much the party looks and feels boring.

I guess this is why my Thanksgiving gatherings are fun. 20-25 of us jammed into my small apartment with loud music, dinner always late and me laughing and joking in the same clothes I prepared dinner

I’m sorry the music is such a no for me. I already have a hard time understanding people… putting music louder than conversation level is crazy! Literally the quickest way to get me to not talk
