many have fought for democracy and christ at the same time. mlk, john brown, george washington and more have proven that jesus teached egalitarian values. you like the crusades not jesus.

Don't you think America's democracy is in some ways persecuting Christians? Is Christianity allowed to take firm position on gender and reproductive issues in America?

the whole point of faith is choice!!!!!!! you are not supposed to impose anything on anyone. when christ met people who didnt want to listen to him, he didnt force himself on them, he left. he taught his apostle to be understand the persoective ot people who dont agree with them. Democracy is important so people have the right to chose!!!!!!! faith comes from willingness to belief, not force!

This is a given as we know people are prone to resisting God, even the faithful (jonah). So when the mass of people, the majority, has power they will choose their own interests which are selfish and not serving God.

religion will never die so long as people are free to think for themselves. the idea that if you just make everyone smarter it will go away is a fundamental misunderstanding of what faith is. people will always choose to believe in something or nothing.

Something I have always wondered about Christianity. That requires a bit of context. Christianity has seen many voluntary conversions over the millenium. But it has also seen many coerced, forced, or "impossible choice between convert or die" situations such as Charlemagne with the pagans. Now obviously the latter sort of conversions would not line up well with things like the 10 Commandments and other rules the bible throws out there. So that being put on the table, here is my query. Can a conversion to Christianity be true and pure if it was not made by choice? And if it cannot be true and pure in that circumstance, then another problem arises. Forced conversions of entire populations dont create a 1 to 1 copy of the converter. It creates a sect that has been taught that such violence and spiritual enslavement is not only allowed, but encouraged. And that is taught to that sects children, and their children too. It creates a line of Christians that came as forced converts who would recreate the sins of their converters to continue the spread of their imposed faith. So the question becomes worse. Are Christians today learning of the truest version of their faith, or the version perverted by spiritual enslavers like Charlemagne or Emperor Theodosius of Rome, that taught love to your neighbor but persecution to all others?

Religion should never be viewed as some societal imperative lest you want to go against the founding principles of it being about the personal relationship one has with god and the freedom to choose it. also, if it truly held remarkable miraculous power backed by a supreme omnipotent omnipresent and omniscient creator, then it would absolutely never even come close to being threatened by democracy or any other human process.

True. The eastern church of Assyrian survived the Persian empire, islamic arabic occupation, the Mongolian empire, Ottoman empire and more. They survived all that in an area where the Assyrian were a minority

Brov. I think you mean Evancelicism can't survive a tolerant society. The Anabaptists, Celtic, and Byzantine branches are fine.

Easily the dumbest take and if you look at the originator of the quote it is from a Catholic standpoint. They by definition kept the word of God seperate from the common man by only writing it in Latin and orating it in Latin to prevent the common man from challenging their translation. If your definition of a democracy is one of choice and one where the people decide what they want for themselves then I encourage you to actually read the Biblical principles of the faith rather than humanity’s interpretation through action. Faith in and of itself if about choice. You can’t force Christianity on someone. You can force them to act like one but you can’t force them to BE one so again this take is oxymoronic if we’re using definitions and not historical actions. Cause if we’re using actions then nothing is what it is defined to be
