AccuWeather has released its snowfall projections for winter 2026–2027, and the differences across the country are remarkable! Philadelphia is projected to receive just 5–15 inches, New York City 10–20 inches, Boston 15–30 inches, and Chicago 12–25 inches. Meanwhile, the outlook is much snowier for parts of the West. Denver could see 45–55 inches, Salt Lake City 50–65 inches, and Buffalo, NY, could still collect an impressive 55–70 inches! One of the biggest surprises is Salt Lake City, which recorded only 3.7 inches last winter. AccuWeather is predicting a dramatic rebound this season. A potentially very strong El Niño is expected to influence the winter pattern, favoring a more active southern storm track while bringing milder conditions to much of the northern United States. But don’t put away the snow shovels just yet! Even a winter with below-average snowfall can produce a major snowstorm, particularly along the East Coast during late January and February. These are seasonal projections, not guaranteed totals.
