They were each making a million dollars a year at Meta. Then they walked away from all of it.. to start a company together as sisters? Farah and Misbah. Sisters, and co-founders of Nectar. They raised 40 million dollars. In two weeks. Before that, they spent nearly a decade at Meta. One on product, one on software. Between them, they built things billions of people have touched. The Care reaction on Facebook. Meta Rooms during the pandemic. So why walk away from the American dream? Because that salary was a pair of golden handcuffs. It could keep them comfortable, or they could go build something that was theirs. They didn’t wait for permission. They didn’t wait to look like the perfect founders. They saw a problem, knew they could solve it, and just went. The one mistake they are proud of making? Starting the company at all. You have to be a little crazy to go down this path. And the lesson they would leave you with? You are lucky if you make it to 80. Every week is 2% of your year. Either you are building a rocket ship, or you are riding on one. If you cannot sacrifice anything, you cannot change anything.
