@abc7chicago: San Diego commuters navigated inundated roads as high tides brought coastal flooding to southern California on Tuesday, October 27. The National Weather Service (NWS) forecast a tide seven-and-a-half feet higher than the lowest tide, warning citizens that even without a notable swell, significant coastal flooding was to be expected through to Thursday. “Avoid the beaches during high tides, keep farther back from the ocean than usual (waves will run much farther up the beach that expected), stay off rock walls/jetties, and make sure flood-prone property is protected this week,” the service said. Officials advised the flooding would force the closure of numerous roads, with low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure at risk of being inundated. Some shoreline erosion was expected to occur on “later mornings.” Footage captured by Marty Caswell on Pacific Beach Drive shows floodwater swamping roadways several blocks inland.
