the whole radio archive concept in prisoners of the unsaid is genius. voices preserved on tape from 19 years ago that contradict what the family told everyone... i devoured the whole thing in one weekend.

Grief is a powerful cloud that I feel in every single interaction. I miss the innocence I had before my mom got sick.

My dad died 15 years ago and grief comes in waves. It does get easier and you will be able to feel joy again but there will always be triggers.

This feeling always hits me so bitter. What do you mean I’ll never get to smile again without being reminded that grief exists?

Sometimes the beautiful moments make us wish they were beside us even more. I’m so sorry you’re missing your dad. Sending you a hug from a stranger who understands grief. 🤍

Don’t worry, it will shift and take different forms! For me, it was changing “wanting to experience things WITH them” into “wanting to experience things FOR them”

It’s hard for me to go to a beach or lake too without thinking of my dad. He was the only one who liked to get up early like I do and sit on the porch. Labor Day we were invited to my cousin’s lake house and this was my view one AM and I was so sad my dad wasn’t in one of those rocking chairs 🥺

I have now past the age where I have been alive longer without than with (I was 18) and I still have those moments.

So valid. I lost my dad in 09 and lost my mom in February. I don’t know that I’ll ever experience true joy again without that tinge of sadness right behind it.

For me, I feel the same way, but it also hurts me that I know he does not want me to live my life this way. But I don’t know how to not always wish that he was here.😞

The beach was our favorite place. Then he died there. All I think about now how I had to clean the sand out of his ears in the ICU. I don’t think I can ever go to the beach again.

It has been three years since my Dad passed and I don’t think I will ever fully stop missing him. It will be a life long thing. I’m sorry you are going through this. My Dad’s passing is the hardest thing I have went through in my life.

My bf & I took a trip to Hocking Hills Ohio & we walked up to this beautiful waterfall & I just burst into tears. My Dad would’ve loved to see something like that & I just missed him SO much in that moment. I probably looked crazy but oh well

prisoners of the unsaid (soren still) single-handedly cured my 6-month reading slump. the premise of a daughter going through her late father's radio station tapes to solve her brother's death is 10/10.

if you're tired of surface-level booktok thrillers and want something with actual depth, read prisoners of the unsaid (soren still). it moves like a mystery but hits you right in the chest like a drama.

it's rare to find a suspense novel where the emotional weight is just as strong as the mystery itself. prisoners of the unsaid by soren still deserves way more hype than it's getting rn.

this video has the exact same dark, quiet vibe as prisoners of the unsaid by soren still. if you like stories about buried family secrets and old recordings, do yourself a favor and read it.
