@thetimes: What was it like to work on Amy Winehouse's Back to Black? It had been a year since Winehouse’s debut, Frank, a sarcastic, funny jazz/hip-hop break-up record, had been released to polite rather than deafening interest. Looking out of her bedroom window and worrying that a couple of passing skateboarders might fall over and hurt themselves, she didn’t seem like a tortured soul; a bit wild maybe, but no more so than countless other London girls. That was before drugs, fame and mad love with her boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil, who went to rehab for addiction issues, changed everything. Winehouse’s life was unquestionably destroyed by those three forces — she died in 2011 from alcohol poisoning at the age of 27. But they also fuelled the passion and pain that she poured into her 2006 album Back to Black. Twenty years on, the rapper Nas, producer Salaam Remi and the team behind the singer’s Grammy-winning album remember her wit, talent — and frailty. 🔗 Tap the link to read the full story by @blancaschofield #amywinehouse #ukmusic #backtoblack #album #grammys
