Somebody didn’t watch Shake Hands With Danger in their high school heavy equipment class.

Yeah this ain’t cool it’s just dumb, Never stand under any bucket. You have more chances of a bucket landing on you then hitting a jackpot at the casino.

Unless the cylinder or boom actually snaps, it’s a slow let down when a hydraulic line fails

Genuine question... why even start throwing chains before the ENTIRE machine is laid on the trailer..?

100 million:1. Lines don't just blow into, they blow out holes, and a cylinder would have to come completely apart to fall.

Our lowboy driver has all that pulled out before we even load the machine. We never have to walk under the the bucket like that.

Two guys died on a jobsite doing that. The hydraulic lines busted and it smashed them in the bell hole.

That’s so silly! Even without hydraulic oil it still has air pressure and will only slowly drop. It would have to be a broken pin or crack in the boom before I’d be worried.

Like a ol timer saying get in that hole without a trench box. Just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it won’t. Safety first always.

the trick is to make sure that you live a good enough life that you don't worry about death. when my time comes it comes. I've lived a good one and regret nothing.

Once upon a time I hired a crane to lift a shipping container loaded with lead waste, weighing about 40t in total. I even helped the crane operator to unpack the brand new wire ropes (he didn't want to risk it and he needed a new set anyways). So he lifted it like 6 feet, and I needed it to turn 90 degrees, so the truck can get underneath it, in a straight line. I grabbed a corner and pulled, placing my feet under the container. I thought "hey, get your feet off there". And the moment I pulled my legs, the cable snapped. I have my legs attached because of pure luck and a few milliseconds.
Don't do that

they not wrong. it's few and far between but have you ever seen a booms hydraulics fail while it's raised? that shits scary you can find videos of it. it will make you think twice. my superintendent showed me a video of that happening way back when I first started laying pipe and it really gave me a respect for how dangerous that could be

Its called a PRV, sudden drop of pressure wont slam down. It slowly fades down.
