Horses are spirit-beings, not possessions. When you earn the trust of a horse without domination or force, you are not “breaking” anything; you are entering into relationship. You gain a relative, a teacher, a protector, and a bridge between worlds. This is why they are sacred to so many Nations: not because they are tools, but because they are conscious beings who choose to stand with us. A horse was never meant to be subdued. They were meant to be collaborated with, listened to, and honored. Their power is not something to control. It is something to be entrusted with. The old ones understood this: A horse meets you where your spirit is. It mirrors what you carry. It refuses to lie to you. And when it chooses you, it reveals pathways between the seen and unseen that cannot be accessed through force, only through reciprocity. To treat a horse with cruelty is to sever that bridge. To meet a horse with respect is to restore a way of being that colonization tried to erase, one rooted in kinship, consciousness, and shared responsibility between nations of beings. #horse #connection #bond #Indigenous #culture
