Is there any difference in this method if you want your dog in a crate while you leave? We crate him while we’re home too so it’s not just “when we walk out”. It’s in a place he can see us leave because we want him to know and get desensitized.

I think my dog has fomo. I have her crate in her pen and when I want her to nap, I’ll put her in the pen. She haatesss being confined and will cry 10-15 min until she walks into the crate and naps in there on her own. Is that okay? Or should I remove the crate from the pen? Once she’s older I want to get rid of the pen but always want to use the crate. I thought I was helping with letting her go into her crate on her own from the pen but maybe it’s not necessary?

i have a question! my dog has gotten to the point where she no longer whines & paces when we practice this, but she is heavily focused on the door. is this something that can fade with more time & patience? should i decrease time or is this behavior okay?

my puppy has had separation anxiety since we brought her home at 6wks. no matter what door or even taking a shower with her in the room she freaks out. always crying and put her in the kennel and her world ends.

If we have the crate our new rescue because we have to work and he’s crying and panting and salivating and soaking the crate, can he be okay? Or should we avoid this? How do we do that if we HAVE to be gone ?

I’ve done everything you said. But I have never been able to train SA from my dog. I just got a new dog and the vet put him on drugs. He still reacts when I leave for a minute. I need help 😫

6 mo old Border Collie will throw herself up and over the indoor/outdoor kennel. After this picture we installed 6 foot panels. She will scratch at the corner frantically for 5 minutes at a time and then go outside. She will return w/in 15 to 20 minutes for another panic attack on the corner. She does have an igloo shelter inside and outside.

My pup isn’t trained not to rush the door yet. Usually I take treats and toss them away from the door to get out to go to the car or something. So maybe I need to teach wait or place first.

yesterday, I've been to the grocery store while my dog was at home . it's the first time in a year . it was 40 minutes and I cried a little cry of relief. we've come very far and I am very proud .

How about the people who get a mannequin, dress the mannequin in their dirty stinky clothes, and sit the dressed mannequin on the couch. That apparently helps sometimes.

I just had a sit down with my son. A real heart to heart and let him know I have to work so I can buy him all the things he likes to chew on. Worked great. As soon as he sees me getting dressed he goes straight to his cage without being told.
