Ok. So as a white person I would like some education because I dont want to be ignorant. I understand that where Seven Stars was held had a dark history with the horrible things that happened to enslaved humans. How would somebody go about rectifying the situation? I understand that POC in this country have gotten the shit end of the stick for CENTURIES and still do, but is there something me as a white person can do? Im not trying to be disrespectful in any way I'm trying to educate myself to better understand and do better in general.

we all make mistakes and I've been in the scene for years and I've never been anywhere that is more inclusive for everyone than the rave scene. that has been the draw to me. love and respect for all. the last thing I want is to hurt anyone. when a mistake is made we all hv to choose to forgive or not. I'm sad for what this country has done but I can't change it except for the way i move in this world. The scene literally wouldn’t even exist without Black people specifically. House and techno- the first genres of what turned into edm- were created by black people in Chicago and Detroit. Listening to people of color is not just some nice thing to do, it’s absolutely essential to the culture.

It’s so frustrating that people are what about-ing the comments- there are so many places within this country that carry pain and violence and this is a perfect time to talk about how reclaiming these places of hurt for better can be born, how community can lean on eachother and listen to eachother and give us more introspection on where our dollar goes and who owns the land we rave on. This is a beautiful discussion that can lead to some really good change and everyone’s just angry at Black ppl for rightfully speaking up and going “well I have bad news for every other venue” okay so let’s discuss it and how we can find better spots or give the land back to those it belongs to, let those who have had violent histories on the land lead these conversations on how we can heal the land from its history or how to educate on its history while also learning to move through this history

Why is taking something with an ugly past and turning into a beautiful future a bad thing? I really don’t understand any of this. But being a raver from the late 90’s and truly seeing this culture as a positive thing no matter where you are to what it is now, I get you. I love everyone and embody Peace, Love, Unity & Respect daily but I am shit on for not having the same political beliefs as most of the scene these days. The hate in this community disguised as love & tolerance is disgusting and saddening.

By not allowing people to reclaim the land for good uses and for love and light, you’re actually reinforcing and justifying its dark past. Every acre of land in this country has a dark past, there aren’t enough tears in the world to cry over every acre of land. Instead, we RECLAIM it for a place where decedents of those unfortunate souls can experience love and joy instead of mourning.
